This policy explains what personal data the FSET Alumni Association ("we", "the association") collects on fsetalumni.org, why we collect it, and how you stay in control of it. We keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, contact us.
What we collect
- Account and verification details you give at registration: name, email, phone, department, batch, student ID, graduation year, and an optional proof document (for example a certificate or ID card).
- Profile details you choose to add: photo, headline, bio, location, education, work experience, skills, and social links.
- Activity on the platform: event RSVPs, job and internship posts you submit, and messages you send through the contact form.
- Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and server logs (IP address, browser, time of request) used for security.
Why we use it
- To verify that you are an FSET graduate or student before you join the member area.
- To run the directory, events, jobs, and news features you use.
- To email you about your account, RSVPs, job posts, and replies to your messages. We do not send marketing email from third parties.
- To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse.
Who can see your profile
You choose your profile visibility in your privacy settings:
- Public: anyone, including visitors who are not signed in.
- Members (the default): verified members only.
- Private: only you and the association's admins.
You can also hide your email and phone number separately. Your proof document is never shown to other members; only admins see it while reviewing your account.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with the services that run the platform (our hosting provider and email delivery through Google), and when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, photo, documents, and RSVPs. A short record of admin decisions is kept for accountability without your profile details.
Your rights
- Access and export: download your data as JSON or CSV from your account settings.
- Correction: edit your profile at any time; for verified details (department, batch, student ID) contact us.
- Deletion: request account deletion from your account settings. An admin confirms it.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the site: a session cookie and a security token for forms. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will update the date above and let members know by email.
